Pinecone, 8/25/2015

The first photo, Shattered Glass, shows some pieces of shattered glass on the sidewalk. The odd shapes of the glass interrupt the pattern of the lines in the concrete. The second photo, Handrail, shows a handrail on a ramp next to a chain link fence. The chain link fence forms a pattern of squares. The handrail and the post at the end of the fence frame the pattern. On the other side of the handrail, there are interesting shadows, forming another pattern. The third photo, Pinecone, shows a pinecone surrounded by a mess of pine needles.  The needles create a feeling of kind of jumbled chaos, but the pinecone stands in the middle of it, showing a circular pattern of the lines coming out of the center of it.

Photo II Week 1

Here are some pictures I took of some of the plants around the school. The quality of the pictures isn't the best because I was using my phone camera. I was trying to implement the rule of thirds into the first two photos. This worked well for the top photo. In the middle photo, the dandelion in the foreground of the photo is out of focus and distracts from the rest of the photo. The bottom photo seems to be split in half by the line between the cement and the dirt, with the plant in between the two sides.
